OVMS V3 Hologram issues

Hello all,

I remotely monitor my OVMS V3 in my roadster that is in storage while I am in Chicago for half the year. Around 2 weeks ago, I received a message from Hologram that my account was out of funds (pay as you go) and I had not associated a billing method to refill. So, I added a new cc to the account and reloaded the sim. It took an hour or so, but the card went out of the paused status to live status. But my OVMS will not connect any more. I figured it needed to be rebooted. Fortunately, I have a friend who was able to go to my roadster and unplug the ovms for a few minutes then replug it in. But I still cannot connect to it. Nothing has changed in my settings, nothing has changed in my app. It was working fine untill the lapse in the sim account.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am concerned if the charger is disrupted and I cannot remotely check on the roadster.

It can take some time for a SIM in that state to be unblocked. The OVMS modem tries to connect to the cellular network and gets a DENIED response back. As per GSM standards after a few of those the denied network is added to a blacklist and the modem won't try to reconnect for some time.

I suggest you wait 24 hours. If still no connection then try a reset?

Modem won't connect to network

Hi all. I just got the V3 with modem and Hologram SIM card. I set up the card with Hologram and am able to exchange SMS data with the card through the Hologram website. I then configured the module and it works fine over my home Wifi network but I am unable to get the modem to to see or communicate with the V2 server. It cycles on and goes through something called "muxstart" but no PPP connection is made. I tried using fixed DNS (8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4) to no avail. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Any ideas? Thanks.

Probably easiest to raise a support ticket here, so we can see the details of your vehicle, and assist. The configuration should be to just enable the modem at boot, and set APN to 'hologram' (no modem user or password required for hologram).

Cannot get OVMS V2 to read Prem, motor, or battery

Took 2010 Roadster to the dealer after she “died” was totally unresponsive. The said the main computer had to be rebooted. When I got the car back OVMS was disconnected. After reconnecting it hasn’t been able to report the Prem, motor or battery. I can see overall battery charge, but that’s it. TPS is recorded.
Any ideas?

Also try clicking on the

Also try clicking on the battery icon in the app, and then accept the 'wake up car'. See if that then starts to transmit the three temperatures. Either that, or just drive the car.

I have had the same issues

I have had the same issues recently. I was using Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1) as a DNS resolver. This seems to have caused the issue. Changing to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) looks like it's fixed and is now communicating over 3G again.
