Micro SD card won't 'lock' in the slot.

I received my OVMS v3 (EU GSM) module this morning. I connected to the OVMS wifi AP with OVMSinit. I reset the wifi ID and the password....and then reconnected.....and it asked me for an "old password". Hmmm.

What old password? I hadn't set one. Just the wifi SSID and password.

The unit no longer shows in the wifi......so I'm trying a factory reset via MicroSD with "factoryreset.txt" in the root. But now the MicroSD card can't / won't lock in the slot.....it just sits there loosely.....and falls out if you tip the box over. Guess I'll get the screwdriver out and the S2 method.

Not a great experience so far.  Anyone know what's up with the SD slot?

The setup wizard doesn't ask for an "old password". Please compare your steps with Andrew Till's setup guide: https://youtu.be/Z9Fsbvd1Kfg?t=819

If you still get that question, provide screenshots of how you get there.

The SD slot is deep, you need to push the card in using a fingernail, screwdriver or similar. Push gentle until you feel & hear the click.

Michael

I was following the video....

I was following Andrews' video, but I suspect my choice of password was the problem. It failed 3 times and then the Module locked. Plus the terminalogy on the screen probably needs a graphical map to show the relationships. I did a factory reset using the Switch 2 method......and chose a different, shorter password with different special characters......and everything went just fine after that.

There is a wifi server.....but there is also the cloud server. The SSID was the vehicle ID and the cloud has a "vehicle ID". Coming in cold, these apparent ambiguities lead to confusion on my part.

Update....

I took the device out of the case. The SDcard ten can be inserted more easily. But I did the Switch 2 factory reset instead....and it worked fine. I think maybe OVSM didn't like the password I was trying to set. I used a shorter one with different special characters and it then worked just fine from there on.
