Wifi at home

Hi, l am having trouble with the module not showing up on my wifi network at home. It worked for the previous owner. It's plugged in and there is a light on inside the box. l have tried it plugged in the car as well. Not sure how to make it appear. Thanks

Gary
Hi Shane

Hi Shane

I'm fairly new to OVMS but I'll see if I can help based on what I know so far.

Depending on how the previous owner configured it, OVMS will be looking to connect the WiFi SSID of the previous owner. You need to connect to the OVMS box and add your ghome WiFI credentials. Hopefully the previous owner left it set to the default of Access-Point + Client mode. Have a red of this page https://docs.openvehicles.com/en/latest/userguide/wifi.html

Are you able to contact the previous owner to ask them what they named the access point and you'll also need to know the WiFI password they set on the box.

You might need to Factory reset the unit and set-up from scratch: https://docs.openvehicles.com/en/latest/userguide/factory.html?highlight=reset

What vehcile do you have?

Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary,

Hi Gary,

Thanks so much for your response I will get straight on to it tonight and give both of your suggestions a go.

I have a 2016 Nissan Leaf which l have only owned for about a week.

Thanks again for your help so far and l can't wait to get the OVMS set up and be able to monitor the cars stats.

Cheers, Shane
