Hi all.
I am hoping there is someone who can assist me in the setup of OVMS on my e-nv200 camper van .
First, some background: The van is an 2020 e-nv200 40kWh, 2020 Tekna. I am the second owner and the van builder, for the first owner, "upgraded" the navigation unit to a Panasonic head unit with the capability for Android Auto. The main reason for this swap was to enable the new user a larger screen display for use when reversing. I would have gone about this in a very different way, but nevertheless this is what I have.
When I bought the van I had no idea what impact the removal of the original navigation system had on many other systems on the van. I now have no way of even setting the clock, setting the charge timer or the cabin preheat functions. With assistance from others on various forums, I was recommended to fit an OVMS system, which should get me back all of the missing functionality as this unit interfaces directly with the van's Canbus.
The OVMS system is now installed and I have disconnected the telematics unit, but I am now struggling with certain aspects and this is the nature of my request.
Things that initially do not seem to work are: TPMS system, which does not show on the "Car" tab. I'm not sure whether I would expect these to show there at the moment in any case, as the vehicle dashboard only displays pressures once in motion and perhaps that is an expectation that I shouldn't have?
Waking up the vehicle. This causes a relays to click in the dashboard and no other functionality as far as I can see.
The aircon cannot be turned on or off. If I select it, it gives a message that it is turning on and subsequently says that it was okay, but nothing happens. Same with locking and unlocking the vehicle. If I turn the aircon on or off manually. The status is immediately reflected in the app, but I have no control. Canbus writing is set on.
I am hoping to be able to set the charge timer and the dashboard clock somehow too. I'm sure I will have more questions once I get these things figured out, but in the meantime are there any suggestions that I can try to get the system working as I think it should?
Thanks in anticipation.
Paul.
I'm not an expert but have a 2018 40kWh env200 and through trial and error have got some things working so can offer some advice at least. I have the Accenta model which doesn't have the screen the Tekna has so may be slightly different - I know the Tekna drivers need to disconnect the TCU module but I assume this had been done if the head unit has been replaced.
The TPMS display will only display once it has been driven for a bit but after that will stay there (it's only live while driving though).
With waking up the vehicle I have the same experience.
I had the same issues with the aircon and locking/unlocking but managed to get it working (with a few caveats). Although the documentation says to always set the year to 2015 for any env200 I found I needed to set the year to 2016 - this is because it is in the code to send the command on a different can on 2016 models upwards and this is what got it working for me.
The aircon needs to be turned on when you shut down the vehicle in order for it to then work from the app. I don't know why this is but now I always leave it on the minimum blower on the windscreen even when I'm not using the heater or aircon because I kept forgetting to turn it on before getting out!
The locking and unlocking needs the can to be awake and this is done from the app by turning on the aircon (as you've noticed waking up the vehicle doesn't do this).
I can't help with the charge timer or dash clock but good luck in finding a solution.
Thank you so much for this suggestion, I had tried what I thought was everything, but changing the year to 2016 as you suggest has got me working!
In fact, everything you describe, such as having to wake the car with the aircon control if you want to use the locking and unlocking function is exactly the same for me. I imagine I have an identical setup.
I have not experimented with the charge functionality yet. And I do not yet understand how to set the target temperature, but I am so much further along this journey.
Thank you once again.
