Ovms to integrate leaf into home assistant

So I was wondering if something was possible, because I wanted to know before doing more research into this, and wanted to know what hardware I needed to accomplish the goal. I wanted to be able to turn on charging, turn off charging (if possible*) turn on or off a charge or climate control timer, get information from the vehicle such as remaining miles, remaining percentage. Can I have the ovms module send data directly to my home assistant to avoid having to use a server of some sort? From what I understand I may have to send all my information to a public server hosted by ovms or an affiliate. I saw a thread regarding this but was not sure if what I wanted to do was possible and what hardware I needed to make it work.

For direct access the module has an integrated fully scriptable HTTP/HTTPS client & server.

These can be used via all network connections (GSM: server mode only with an IP routing plan).

So is there only one type of

So is there only one type of ovms unit? Like if I get an ovms module from here with the gsm thing will it be capable of what I need?

What options do I need? I just want to get the hardware and install it then try to figure it out when I get it, I'm better at hands on learning.

Yes: there is only (1) OVMS

Yes: there is only (1) OVMS "kit". If you order that bundle, you get everything you need.

If you get/use the modem, you will also need to set-up an account with Hologram, who can also supply you with a SIM card.
